Thanks to all who participated in the Waste to Wealth Biomass Utilization Workshop. Participants learned about alternatives to land-filling or burning biomass (slash, ag waste, food waste, etc.), some new technologies for producing products from biomass (specifically bio-char), and possible funding sources to encourage business expansion/diversification and marketing.
People from a broad spectrum of businesses attended, including farmers, tree service, forest products industry, county landfills, parks and recreation and others. A free flowing discussion of possible next steps occurred during the meeting.
There was some interest in forming a collaborative that could work with the National Forest to improve access to forest biomass and possible ideas for cooperative businesses. If you are interested in participating in a collaborative, please contact Pam Herdrich at 208-624-3200, or [email protected]
